Sustainable overnight stay in a BLUE LOOP
Blue LOOP Originals, a Dutch sustainable clothing brand which designs and produces clothing, has recently started producing tents from recycled denim. At Blue Loop Originals, worn jeans can get a new lease of life. Since the summer of 2016 people have been able to camp in a two-person tent made from the worn jeans. This ambitious tent project, with the appropriate name BlueCAMP, continues to grow.
In 2016, Blue LOOP Originals and TenCate Outdoor Fabrics collaborated to develop tent textile yarns from the fibres of old jeans. This led to the creation of a high-quality tent canvas. Subsequently, TCOF and a client came up with a fitting design. The result: a tent of which 25% of its material is from recycled denim.
The BlueCAMP has been tested in one of the most beautiful places in the Netherlands: the Wadden Islands. In the summer of 2016, Texel, Terschelling and Rottumeroog were the backdrop for the sustainable tents of Blue LOOP Originals.
In 2017, Blue LOOP Originals continues to grow. Last year, a handful of festival-goers got to spend the night in a BlueCAMP tent. This year the camp had twenty-six comfortable and fully weatherproof two-person tents. These sustainable tents for overnight stay are made from 100% recycled material incorporating eight pairs of worn jeans in the design. It is an ecological accommodation concept which combines comfort and tranquillity with sustainability.
Sustainability, experience and leisure time
“BlueCamp strives for maximum comfort with minimum ecological footprint”, explains Ron van de Wiel from Blue LOOP Originals. This creates a great combination of sustainability, experience and leisure time. This is how Blue LOOP Originals wants to raise awareness about (textile) waste.
BlueCAMP was also present at the ‘Into The Great Open’ festival on Vlieland between 31 August and 3 September 2017.
